Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant

The “Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant” is organized by Fairchild Television, a national Chinese TV network, and co-organized by Talentvision, Fairchild Radio, and Popular Lifestyle Entertainment Magazine. The Pageant, in its milestone 25th year, is recognized as one of the most acclaimed annual cultural events and a highly rated entertaining television show in the Chinese-Canadian community.

Each year the champion will represent Fairchild Television and Toronto to compete in the “Miss Chinese International Pageant”. Organized by Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasts Limited (HK-TVB), the “Miss Chinese International Pageant” gathers the most stunning individuals from local pageants around the world to compete for the winning title. In the past years, it has helped many young women achieved their dreams. These extraordinary individuals who had won the “Miss Chinese International” title include Monica Lo (1996/1997) and Christine Kuo (2008/2009).  Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant 2004 winner Lena Ma was the first Chinese to be crowned Miss World Canada 2009 and subsequently captured the title of 4th runner-up in the Miss World Pageant contest. These remarkable records reinforce the high standard of our Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant and also substantiate the recognition of pageantry on a global status.  

Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant has been committed to the principles of charitable cause.  Fairchild TV is highly aware of its social responsibilities.  Over the past few years, we have partnered with various creditable organizations such as North York General Hospital Foundation, United Way of the Greater Toronto, Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Mon Sheong, Chi Heng Foundation (benefiting HIV-contracted orphans), the Chinese Cultural Centre of the Greater Toronto, etc.  This partnership is mandated to help raise awareness within the Canadian Chinese community for the services provided by these not-for-profit organizations.

The judging panel for the final event is comprised of professionally designated individuals and/or celebrities who are known to be successful, talented, artistic, creative and well respected in the Chinese community. A popular artiste, flying many miles from Hong Kong, is invited to be the featured performer every year. A celeb artiste is also invited from Hong Kong to be one of the hosts of the pageant, alongside local talented emcees, to make sure the evening is a treasured memory for everyone at the venue or for many thousands of home audiences across Canada.

All the hard work of the pageant’s committee members and event personnel have paid dividends – from the first meeting during the initial planning stage more than five months ago, to that evening’s extravaganza. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre has served as an excellent venue since 1997 for the Pageant. The versatility of stage construction, combined with a event space measuring in at a whopping 100,000 square feet, allows for the innovative stage design concept to be utilized to its fullest extent. The show embraces beauty, intelligence, friendship and more, as reflected in the trophies to be won. The Pageant draws on the highest caliber of professionals in the disciplines of image consultation, modeling, fashion, choreography, public speaking, and other entertainment talents accentuating the finalists’ own beauty and talent.

The success of the Pageant is built upon the generous support of our sponsors, our team of beauty professionals, the panel of judges, our production crew and staff members. Special thanks to our patrons and the home audience, whose presence gives us the greatest incentive and encouragement.  

We wish every contestant success in their performances ahead, and we are ecstatic to celebrate and applaud their achievements and accomplishments. We sincerely hope that this year’s champion will shine on the international stage, winning glory for herself and Toronto.
